Our plastics span many industries. Take a look below for a sampling of how Pikes Peak Plastics has helped companies build better products.
A sampling of the materials handled by Pikes Peak Plastics include:
ABS - (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) - phones, electrical cases
Acetal - (POM) - gears, sliding and guiding elements, hinges, zippers
CA - Cellulose acetate - The lowest-cost cellulosic material, has good toughness and rigidity. This is an easy to mold material available in a variety of grades, ranging from "soft" to "hard"
CAB - Cellulose acetate butyrate - Although a little more expensive than the straight acetate, is somewhat tougher, with a hornlike quality, and has lower moisture absorption. It has relatively good weather ability and excellent transparency
HDPE - (High Density Polyethylene) - food containers, bottles
HIPS - (High Impact PolyStyrene) - hobby models
Nylon - (PA) - Grades can be FDA approved, highly flexible without breakage, dishwasher safe
PC - (Polycarbonate) - Translucent to colored, grades may be FDA approved. CD's, lenses, auto parts
PP - (Polypropylene) - Resistant to fatigue, most plastic living hinges, such as those on flip-top bottles, are made from this material.
PS - (Polystyrene) - CD cases, disposable cups, plates, cutlery, toys
TPE - (Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomers) (trademark names such as Santoprene and Alcryn) Durometer is an important term for discussion of this material. From soft to hard, rating 25 to over 95
UHDMWPE - (Ultra High-Density Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) - self lubricating capabilities
Depending on the application of your product, there are many unique blends for plastics that can incorporate additives for rigidity and strength, perform antibacterial functions, resistive/conductive properties or electrostatic discharge needs.
